Massage Therapists Must Pass the Test
A massage therapist moving into the state, in 37 states in the US, must pass a national certification test or complete 50 course hours in massage continuing education. The test is the National Certification Exam and must be passed for therapists moving into the state, for the four year re-certification requirement or for new therapists just coming out of school. In addition to the course hours, there are requirements of completing studies in professional ethics and 200 hours of therapeutic massage sessions. It isn’t easy being a massage therapist, it isn’t just about rubbing a few tired muscles and calling yourself a masseuse.
