Clueless in Financial Matters
My dad passed away two years ago so my mom had to handle money for the first time in her life. My dad always took care of financial matters in their marriage so she didn’t have to. What my sister and I didn’t realize is that our mom knows absolutely nothing about money management. Now she is in credit card debt and can’t meet the monthly payments. My dad gave her a credit card and she would use it and he would pay the bill. In the past six months, she has missed three payments and she had enough in the bank to cover the payments easily. We are taking her to a debt consolidation agency tomorrow. Hopefully they can help her get caught up while also teaching her how to better manage her money.
